Plymouth has been an historic port for many centuries. Sir Francis Drake sailed from Plymouth in 1577 abroad the Golden Hind on his epic voyage around the World.

 With magnificent moorlands on the northern edge of the city, some of the best beaches in Europe to the West of Plymouth, and the pretty South Hams hamlets to the East, it is no suprise that the city has a quality of life that few other cities can match.
